WHEN DO I NEED TO REFILL THE GAS IN MY AIRCONDITIONING UNIT

 

We often get asked by clients : “When do I need to refill the gas in my aircon?” Gas is not a consumable item, and your unit should never need gas unless it has a gas leak. If your installation has been done correctly, the unit will not leak gas. It is a sealed system and the gas circulates within the system but does not become consumed by the system.

Some gas leaks are due bad installations – if the welding is of poor quality or the connections have not been tightened, this will result in a gas leak. Having said this, a gas leak can also be caused in different ways, which are not due to a bad installation. There are vibrations within the unit (due to moving parts) which can cause friction on the piping, resulting in a gas leak.

If a repair has been done on your unit which has required a refill of gas, it is important that the correct quantity of gas has been used as incorrect gas pressures will result in other problems.
